The set mainly consists of small, intimate monoprints and collagraphs, A monoprint is a single print made from a temporary plate such as plexiglass, paper board or metal. It can be rolled or painted on with printing inks. For the roll-on method, ink is removed by hand using different materials and according to the image or images the artist has conceived. This process can be combined with other previously inked materials such as string, lace, etc. Actual printing over the whole plate then follows immediately. Collagraphs are made from a permanent plate that can be printed in limited editions. A plate, usually made of thick paper board is prepared by composing a collage of materials that are glued on, sealed with gesso and inked very carefully. A delicate wiping-off process follows before printing.
The artist likes to think that most of her prints here are little excursions into abstractions. The aim is to transform mundane materials into unique abstract configurations that could suggest whimsical images or an emotional sensation or state.
