The show mainly consists of small, intimate monoprints and
collagraphs, most of which were done in 1986. A monoprint is
a single print made from a temporary plate that can either be
"painted" on with ink alone or prepared with a combination of
inked materials such as paper, strings, laces, etc. on a Plexiglas,
metal or linoleum base. A collagraph is one among a limited edition
of prints made from a permanent plate. This plate is produced with
a collage that is glued, sealed and then carefully inked.
The artist likes to think of her
prints as little excursions into abstraction. The aim is to
transform mundane materials into unique aesthetic configurations
that at times suggest a strange, whimsical world, or an emotional
sensation or state. Some of the pieces are punctuated by a free
process itself. Unlike the premeditated and meticulous steps most
